The Project Engineer – OPC will be a member of the Linxon IN OPC-Chennai Engineering Team and will contribute to the effective operation of the project unit.
This position involves designing engineering disciplines across multiple projects within the OPC. You will complete assignments on moderate-sized projects or parts of larger projects, ensuring cost-effectiveness and compliance with contract specifications and quality standards. Highest quality standards and safety requirements are paramount.
What will you do?
- Evaluate, select, and apply standard techniques and procedures for engineering assignments. Provide technical support during installation and commissioning. Prepare project documentation within your scope of deliverables.
- Develop tender engineering deliverables efficiently without compromising quality.
- Ensure the completeness of assigned packages and the proper functioning of the resulting substation system.
- Develop engineering considering all necessary information, conduct interdisciplinary checks, and document results properly.
- Resolve engineering development issues promptly.
- Focus on cost-efficient system solutions.
- Report and document all engineering changes, collaborating with the team to assess project impacts.
- Ensure adherence to Linxon and client engineering guidelines, standards, and quality throughout the engineering process.
- Create work plans and cost estimates within your responsibility.
- Coordinate technical issues with engineers, subcontractors, and suppliers within your scope.
- Collaborate with the site team and attend construction sites if necessary.
- Contribute to risk and opportunity registers by communicating observations.
- Prepare technical documentation for equipment specifications for procurement.
- Maintain the design issue log and participate in design reviews.
- Follow Linxon’s OHS procedures and guidelines.
- Contribute to project close-out reports and lessons learned.
Experience, Education, and Other Requirements:
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 15+ years of experience in substation civil and structural design.
- Proficient in civil design and detailed engineering of AIS & GIS substations up to 400kV.
- Skills in pile foundation design.
- Experience in site/grading development, drainage, flood mitigation, stormwater management, erosion control, road planning, soil management, and surfacing plans.
- Knowledge of ANSI standards for civil engineering is preferred.
- Extensive engineering experience with Base, Detail Civil, and Structural engineering in GIS or AIS substations, especially for UK utilities.
- Hands-on experience with civil software such as STAAD Pro, SAP 2000, SAFE, L pile, AutoCAD.
- Understanding of electronic records management systems.
- High attention to detail and quality.
