Job summary

Gallagher Benefit Services is seeking an experienced Principal Project Analyst to deliver high-quality pension project work. You will check complex items, mentor junior staff, and deputise for the Team Leader to ensure continuity and service excellence.

The role requires deep occupational pensions knowledge, experience at senior/principal level, and strong Excel/Word skills to support accurate calculations and client deliverables.

Overview

Do you have strong third-party occupational pensions experience, a sharp eye for detail and the confidence to lead by example?

We are looking for an experienced Principal Project Analyst to join our team and help deliver a high-quality service across a portfolio of pension projects and events.

In this role, you will take responsibility for checking and supporting the delivery of complex work, ensuring everything is accurate, compliant and completed on time. You will also act as a Checker/Lead on projects and deputise for the Team Leader when required, helping to maintain continuity and service excellence.

How you'll make an impact

• Managing the processing and checking of projects and events to ensure accuracy and compliance with client requirements
• Acting as a Checker/Lead on projects and delivering high-quality outputs
• Deputising for the Team Leader when required
• Planning and prioritising workloads to meet deadlines, including competing priorities
• Liaising with clients and key stakeholders by email, telephone and in meetings
• Working closely with colleagues and support teams to deliver projects smoothly
• Supporting and engaging with the team throughout the day to keep work moving and maintain visibility
• Carrying out and checking manual and automated pension calculations for events such as leavers, retirements, deaths, renewals, pension increases and PIA
• Using MKEY reports and data mining to find key information in member files and received data
• Reviewing Scheme Booklets, Trust Deeds, Rules, Benefit Specifications and actuarial instructions to understand task requirements
• Ensuring work is compliant with pension regulations, including GMP/GMPE, minimum pension increases and disclosure requirements
• Supervising, coaching and mentoring Senior Project Analysts and Project Analysts
• Providing feedback to the Portfolio Team Leader on performance and any concerns
• Taking part in lessons learnt sessions and helping to improve processes
• Supporting resource planning and capacity management
• Attending Trustee and client meetings as required
• Supporting the Client Account Manager with documentation and other tasks
• Handling non-standard client and member queries

About you

• Already experience at senior or principal level in third-party occupational pension schemes
• Proven checking experience
• Strong knowledge of DB, DC and Hybrid pension schemes
• Good understanding of pension regulations, including GMP/GMPE, disclosure requirements and minimum pension increases
• Advanced Excel and Word
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Confidence in checking and authorising data, correspondence and reports completed by others
• Experience of complex project/event processing and pension calculations
• Excellent numeracy skills and the ability to explain complex calculations clearly
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent planning and prioritisation skills
• A collaborative, approachable and supportive style
• The ability to work independently and as part of a team
• A commitment to continuous professional development

Qualifications

• PMI, Prince, or a willingness to work towards one of these
• Evidence of ongoing professional development is desirable
