Job summary

J.P. Morgan is seeking a Principal Software Engineer within Infrastructure Platforms Engineering & AI Practices to lead the design and build of platforms and services that meet access, compliance, and governance requirements.

You will shape patterns across teams to ensure security and governance are embedded from the start. Role focuses on architecting scalable systems, leading engineers across multi-team initiatives, and delivering high-impact software that aligns with enterprise security

Qualifications

• Formal training or certification in software engineering concepts.
• Production-grade systems ownership in large enterprise environments.
• Proficiency in Python, Java, C++, Go, or Scala.
• Experience using AI assistants in software engineering including agentic capabilities.
• Experience developing engineering practices across teams, including identity and security patterns.
• Understanding of responsible AI use and governance in engineering workflows.
• Influence across large organizations to drive pattern adoption and reuse.
• Experience designing and operating distributed systems or internal platforms.

Responsibilities

• Architect and build governance-by-design patterns and libraries embedding policy controls and evidence collection.
• Create standards and tooling (CLI, SDKs, libraries, templates, automated checks) for compliant identity solutions.
• Partner with platform owners to embed continuous compliance reporting in systems.
• Integrate AI capabilities to enhance pattern delivery and reporting.
• Drive engineering excellence through design reviews, architectures, coding standards and reliability practices.
• Coach engineers and foster a culture of quality and ownership.
• Collaborate with identity architects, platform engineers, and risk partners to align solutions.
• Architect and govern agentic AI-enabled development workflows with guardrails for security and reuse.
• Apply SDLC toolchain knowledge to improve automation at scale.
