Job summary
Matchtech seeks a Principal Mechanical Systems Engineer to drive expert mechanical and systems engineering leadership for advanced radar systems in the defence sector. Based in Cowes, the role spans the full lifecycle from requirements through to disposal.
You will apply MBSE, ISO standards, and architectural modelling while guiding teams and communicating with stakeholders to ensure customer acceptance and compliance.
Qualifications
- Expert knowledge of mechanical and systems engineering across the full lifecycle.
- Experience with complex system design in defence/radar domains.
- Experience with Waterfall and Agile development approaches.
- Experience with requirements and configuration management (IBM DOORS Next).
- Familiarity with Model-Based Engineering and digital threads.
- Understanding of cyber security and safety procedures.
- Chartered Engineer status or progress towards equivalent accreditation.
- STEM background required.
Responsibilities
- Lead system design analyses and trade-off decisions to support robust product development.
- Define and decompose system and subsystem requirements.
- Direct architectural modelling and interfaces using approved tools.
- Plan and lead system integration, testing, verification and validation activities.
- Lead technical reviews and approve engineering designs and documentation.
- Present technical information to internal and external stakeholders.
