Job summary

BAE Systems in Cowes, Isle of Wight seeks a Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer on a 6-month on-site contract. You will own complex radar systems design, perform system analyses, and drive lifecycle activities from requirements through integration.

The role demands deep expertise in mechanical and systems engineering, knowledge of ISO 15288, and ability to trade off design parameters. You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and deliver robust solutions for phased array radar platforms.

Qualifications

• Expert in systems engineering principles and design practices.
• Familiar with ISO 15288 and ISO 24641 standards.
• Experience in mechanical engineering and general systems engineering (signal processing/target track extraction) is desirable.

Client: BAE Systems Job Type: Contract Job Title: Lead Mechanical Systems Engineer Location: Cowes - Isle of Wight Hourly Rate: £60.00 PAYE OR £81.05 Umbrella inside IR35 Duration: 6 months Working Arrangements: On-site

Key Responsibilities

• Develop novel solutions to evolving technical challenges and emerging issues for complex phased array Radar Systems that our customers and end-user communities are facing
• Conduct system design analysis to manage trade-offs of principle system parameters in order to characterise and specify robust product design
• Demonstrate, with significant experience, detailed and comprehensive understanding of concepts and principles relating to Mechanical Systems Engineering and supporting governance, and be able to apply knowledge to a wide range of engineering issues within own discipline and other engineering disciplines
• Apply and champion the Mechanical Systems Engineering principles of ISO 15288 to the design and build of complex Radar systems through the entire engineering lifecycle from requirement definition to system integration and customer acceptance into system support and disposal

Skills & Experience

• Expert in principles and approaches underpinning design and development activities
• Be well versed in appropriate Systems Engineering standards (e.g. ISO 15288, ISO 24641)
• Experience in mechanical engineering , general systems engineering like signal processing or target track extraction - desirable
