Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a Principal Mechanical Engineer to lead the design and delivery of building services projects across healthcare, defence, education and more. You will act as Technical Lead, drive energy-efficient solutions and manage client relationships, with mentoring responsibilities for engineers.

You will influence technical direction, support growth and help deliver decarbonisation strategies for the built environment, in a role that blends leadership with technical excellence.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) with a recognised institution.
• Significant experience delivering mechanical building services in a consultancy.
• Experience leading multidisciplinary design teams on complex projects.
• Strong knowledge of UK building regulations and standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery from concept through detailed design, construction and handover.
• Act as Technical Lead and Design Authority on projects.
• Develop sustainable, energy-efficient engineering solutions across sectors.
• Provide technical leadership to multidisciplinary teams.
• Build relationships with clients and stakeholders and lead project reviews.
• Oversee BIM modelling and information using Revit and digital tools.
• Support project managers with delivery, budgets and risk management.
• Contribute to bids, proposals and client presentations.
• Mentor engineers and support development of juniors.
