Job summary

Gold Group in Huddersfield is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to lead a multi-disciplinary team on complex aerospace and defence projects. The role is permanent and involves design leadership, reviews, and client acceptance.

You should have a degree in engineering, experience in heavy engineering, transmission systems, gears and gearboxes, and ideally Chartered Engineer status. The role offers a 4-day week and a salary of £65,000–£75,000 plus benefits.

Qualifications

Bachelor's or master's degree in engineering or a related field.
Experience in the Aerospace and Defence industry.
Chartered Engineer status preferred.
Experience in heavy engineering, transmission systems, gears and gearboxes.

Responsibilities

Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating workloads and meeting customer deadlines.
Develop the team by focusing on performance and development.
Lead non-conformance support and improvements.
Contribute to best-practice engineering strategy, processes and procedures.
Capture and specify design requirements and manage tasks.
Lead on complex projects requiring innovative solutions and provide technical expertise.
Lead design reviews and ensure client acceptance of designs.
