Job summary

Gold Group is seeking a Principal Mechanical Design Engineer for a permanent role in Huddersfield, with a 4-day week option. You will lead a multi-disciplinary engineering team working on aerospace and defence projects, ensuring design integrity and delivery within timescales.

The ideal candidate will hold an engineering degree, preferably Chartered, with experience in heavy engineering, transmission systems, gears, gearboxes, and marine applications, plus proficiency in Solid Edge, NX or

Qualifications

• Bachelor's/master's degree in engineering or a related field.
• Previous experience in a similar role within the Aerospace and Defence industry.
• Preferably a Chartered Engineer.
• Experience in heavy engineering industry, power transmission systems, gears and gear box
• Design Proficiency in Transmission systems, Gears, Gear box and Marine engineering
• Experienced with in the production of mechanical specifications, scopes of work, calculations, drawings and schedules
• Strong experience in: Solid Edge, Siemens NX, AutoCAD etc.
• You can chair design review meetings

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and line management to the team, coordinating and overseeing their workloads, ensuring timescales and deadlines are met.
• Develop the team by focusing on individual performance and support requirements to achieve high standards.
• Lead non-conformance support and improvements.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice engineering vision, strategy, policies, processes and procedures to aid and improve operational performance.
• Ability to capture and specify the design requirements General and Task Management.
• Lead on complex major projects requiring forefront-of-the-field, innovative, original solutions, provide technical expertise to the team.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews and you are responsible for the design acceptance by the client.
• Make independent decisions on issues, providing expert technical support within Mechanical Engineering.
• Lead projects in a multi-discipline environment coordinating all Mechanical engineering and design with other disciplines.

Job Title: Principal Mechanical Design Engineer

Location: Huddersfield 4 days per week (4 day week available)

Our client, an established engineering consultancy, require an experienced Principal Mechanical Design Engineer to join their multi-disciplined team working complex aerospace & defence systems.

Candidates would need to hold British nationality and have lived & worked in the UK for 5+ years and be eligible for SC security clearance.

What the role of the Principal Mechanical Design Engineer entails:
