Job summary

Sapien Engineering is recruiting for Senior and Principal Mechanical Design Engineers to join our Huddersfield team. You'll work on mechanical designs for rotating machinery and power transmission systems within the Aerospace & Defence sector.

The role offers opportunities for technical leadership, mentoring, and leading complex projects depending on experience. Strong CAD, calculations, and design-for-manufacture skills are essential.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Experience designing systems with rotating machinery or geared transmission.
• Knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001 is beneficial.

Responsibilities

• Design mechanical components and assemblies for rotating machinery and gear transmissions.
• Perform calculations, sizing and material selection including shaft/bearing analysis and lubrication systems.
• Produce and check 3D CAD models, 2D drawings and BOMs (Solid Edge preferred).
• Support design reviews and engineering change control.
• For Principal level: provide technical leadership and mentor engineers, lead complex projects.
