Wood is seeking a Principal Instrumentation Engineer for brownfield Oil & Gas projects based in Aberdeen. You will lead instrument engineering for modifications across FEED to detailed design, guiding junior engineers and coordinating with the global execution centres.
The role requires strong discipline expertise in instrumentation and control systems, with experience in SIL, HAZOP/HAZID, and plant PCS. You will report to the Lead Instrument Engineer on a diverse, safety‑critical portfolio.
Wood is recruiting a Principal Instrumentation Engineer with brownfield Oil & Gas experience in Field Instrumentation and Control Systems based at our client office in Aberdeen.
You will be supporting our ongoing modifications portfolio for a North Sea client. The modifications portfolio covers scopes from low complexity single discipline to multi-discipline engineering. The portfolio covers all stages of engineering design from Conceptual, FEED, Define & Detailed Design.
The modifications portfolio consists of the following types of scopes:
Primary focus of the role is to provide instrument engineering expertise to the project team. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading junior engineers and engineers from the global execution centre, providing technical expertise & managing budgets and planning. This individual will be expected to work largely under his/her own direction and will reporting to the Lead Instrument engineer with significant engagement with client personnel.
Wood is growing its project delivery capability across a diverse portfolio of offshore and onshore energy assets, supporting key operators within the Oil & Gas sector. This work spans full asset lifecycles—from brownfield modifications and upgrades through to major projects, shutdown scopes, and ongoing asset enhancements—delivered in complex and safety‑critical environments.
