Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join our growing Ground Engineering team in the Buildings Unit. You will lead geotechnical design across the UK, Ireland and beyond, delivering high‑profile projects for public and private clients.

You will manage investigations, design foundations, and lead multi‑disciplinary teams, with Eurocode compliance and focus on risk, sustainability and value.

Qualifications

• Masters in civil engineering with emphasis on geotechnics.
• Chartered Engineer with the ICE or equivalent.
• Have designed various geotechnical and foundation solutions using current standards and Eurocodes.
• Strong interpersonal skills, can liaise with various clients and build professional relationships.
• Experience managing small to medium geotechnical project teams and track record of successfully delivering projects.
• Ability to prioritise the client needs to deliver high quality design to meet their needs.

Responsibilities

• Design building foundations and basements
• Manage and deliver Ground Investigations (scope, specifications, supervision, GIRs etc)
• Design retaining wall systems
• Travel to project sites when necessary for project delivery and client meetings
• Manage geotechnical design teams on multi-disciplinary projects
