Job summary

Sweco UK Ltd in Manchester is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead our Ground Engineering team. You will deliver a diverse UK portfolio across highways, water, energy and development, with flexible working and a minimum of three days in the office each week.

You’ll mentor engineers, manage design inputs, tender activity and project start-up/delivery, and ensure safe, efficient solutions. Chartered status (CEng/CGeol) and an MEng/MSc in geotechnical fields are expected; MS

Qualifications

• Knowledge/experience in management of projects both financially and technically.
• Excellent interpersonal and team-working skills across levels.
• Proven track record in geotechnical consultancy in the UK.
• Experience in design, contract and tender preparation, tender assessment, construction supervision.

Responsibilities

• Input to Project Management Plan elements and deliverables.
• Prepare scope of services and assist in tender creation.
• Assist in project start-up: define deliverables, milestones, methodology and QA.
• Produce design deliverables: calculations, drawings, reports for optimal solutions.
• Contribute to project checking/approval arrangements and respond to RFI.
• Attend internal project reviews and close-out meetings.
