Job summary
Our client, a globally recognized multidisciplinary consultancy, is seeking a Principal / Senior Principal Geotechnical Engineer to lead the geotechnical energy team in Manchester. You will oversee project delivery, client liaison, risk assessments, and apply sustainability principles across energy and ground engineering projects.
The role requires a civil engineering geotechnics degree, Chartered Engineer status, and a track record of mentoring engineers.
Qualifications
- Degree in civil engineering geotechnics or engineering geology.
- Chartered Engineer status with ICE or equivalent.
- Experience managing small engineering teams.
- Willingness to travel nationally and internationally.
- Background in the energy sector (transmission, energy generation, nuclear).
- Track record mentoring engineers (e.g., DE, SCE).
Responsibilities
- Lead the design of foundations and substructures for energy projects from feasibility to construction.
- Ground characterisation reviews.
- Lead the design of retaining wall systems.
- Lead in 2D numerical modelling for soil-structure interaction.
- Travel to project sites for delivery and client liaison.
- Manage small design teams or contribute to larger teams on major projects.
