Job summary

Sweco is seeking a Principal Geotechnical Engineer to join its Ground Engineering team in Manchester. The role offers a flexible/hybrid pattern with at least three days per week in the office and flexible start times.

You will deliver geotechnical design services across the UK for highways, water, energy and development sectors, leading technical work and supporting project management and tender activities.

Qualifications

• Experience managing geotechnical consultancy projects in the UK.
• A track record in design, tender prep, and construction supervision.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or CGeol status is expected.

Responsibilities

• Input to technical elements of the Project Management Plan and Scope of Services.
• Produce design deliverables, calculations, drawings, and reports.
• Support tender preparation and post-tender negotiations.
• Lead project start-up meetings and ensure QA and milestones.
• Review design inputs and communicate changes to the Project Manager.
• Attend internal and client meetings and support policy improvements.
