Job summary

London Stock Exchange Group is seeking a Principal Engineer to design, build, and operate secure, scalable enterprise applications across on-prem and AWS environments.

You will lead architecture, DevOps practices, and cross-functional collaboration, with strong emphasis on cloud security, observability, and disaster recovery. A senior hands-on role requiring deep expertise in .NET/C#, AWS, and SQL Server.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field.
• Strong hands-on experience with .NET/C# and MS SQL.
• Extensive experience building highly-available distributed systems in on-prem and AWS.
• Excellent knowledge of AWS services (EKS, EC2, S3, RDS, Lambda, API Gateway, ECS, VPC, IAM, CloudWatch).
• Hands-on experience with relational and NoSQL databases (DynamoDB).
• Experience with message brokers (Kafka, RabbitMQ).
• Hands-on with CI/CD tools (Jenkins, GitLab CI, Ansible, Terraform).
• Observability platforms such as Datadog or Prometheus.
• Experience designing disaster recovery plans and drills.
• Cloud security best practices including IAM, encryption, vulnerability scanning, and audits.
• Nice to have AWS certifications such as AWS Solutions Architect or Developer.

Responsibilities

• Design and build highly available enterprise applications across on-prem and AWS.
• Collaborate with cross-geography stakeholders to gather requirements and deliver on timelines.
• Define and enforce standards for API design, development, and security.
• Lead on-prem and AWS infrastructure design with high availability.
• Troubleshoot complex distributed systems and resolve critical issues.
• Lead cloud security posture management and ensure enterprise compliance.
• Drive observability using Datadog/Prometheus to monitor performance.
• Mentor a geographically diverse software engineering team.
