Job summary

InSite Technical Services is seeking a Principal Electrical Engineer in Pembrokeshire, West Wales, to lead electrical design across industrial and energy projects. You will drive technical decisions, mentor engineers, and represent the discipline in client and vendor engagements.

The role requires deep expertise in power systems, LV/HV design up to 11/33 kV, and proficiency with ETAP, ElectricalOM or Amtech.

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent; Chartered status advantageous.
• Extensive experience in industrial/energy electrical design up to 11/33 kV.
• Experience with ETAP or similar power-system studies.
• Knowledge of 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (BS 7671) and cable sizing tools.

Responsibilities

• Lead production, review and approval of electrical engineering documents including calculations, specs, datasheets, schedules, drawings and reports.
• Provide expert input on complex electrical design activities such as cable sizing, load assessments, network configuration and system architecture.
• Produce and peer-review power system studies including load flow, fault level assessments, protection coordination and arc flash analysis.
• Deliver and oversee power system studies using ETAP or similar tools and define network design requirements for LV/HV systems.
• Define scope, deliverables and resource requirements for electrical work packages and contribute to schedules, estimating and risk management.
• Represent the electrical discipline in client meetings, resolving design queries and coordinating with vendors and contractors.
• Collaborate with other disciplines to deliver integrated solutions and participate in design reviews and critical checkpoints.
• Mentor and develop engineers and apprentices, promoting engineering excellence and continuous improvement.
