Job summary

Jacobs in the UK is seeking a Principal Ecologist or Associate Director to lead the Birmingham ecology team, shaping strategy and delivering projects across water, transport and energy infrastructure. You will combine strategic leadership, technical excellence and people development to drive high‑impact outcomes.

You will steer direction, provide high‑quality advice to clients and regulators, and build strong relationships with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Strong background in terrestrial ecology with significant industry experience.
• Experience leading ecological input on large infrastructure projects.
• Proven ability to influence wider business decisions and mentor teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead and guide the Birmingham ecology team across water, transport and energy projects.
• Provide high‑quality ecological advice to clients, regulators and stakeholders.
• Develop and deliver strategic direction, mentoring and performance within the team.
• Identify, bid for and win new work while representing Jacobs externally.
