Jacobs’ UK Ecology Team is seeking a Principal Ecologist to lead major ecological assessments and mentor colleagues on large-scale projects across infrastructure, water, and energy sectors. The role offers nationwide opportunities with a mix of office and field work.

Based in the UK, you will shape environmental strategies, deliver high-quality data, and drive professional development through our chartership and global networks.

Qualifications

• Strong background in terrestrial ecology with significant industry experience.
• Chartered membership (or eligible) of a relevant professional body.
• Proven track record in leading ecological input on large-scale projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with sharp attention to detail.
• Technical speciality in terrestrial ecology—or broad adaptability.

Responsibilities

• Deliver ecological assessments across major infrastructure projects.
• Lead and mentor junior ecologists and monitor surveys.
• Provide expert client advice and coordinate with stakeholders.
• Integrate ecological requirements into project design and delivery.
• Collaborate across geographies and disciplines to develop solutions.
• Support knowledge sharing through global communities of practice.
