Jacobs is hiring a Principal Ecologist to lead ecological input on major infrastructure across the UK. You’ll join our UK Ecology Team, delivering high‑impact projects while mentoring colleagues and shaping environmental policy.

Qualifications

• Strong background in terrestrial ecology with significant industry experience.
• Chartered membership (or eligible) of a relevant professional body.
• Proven track record in leading ecological input on large-scale projects.
• Excellent written and verbal communication, detail-oriented.
• High level of accountability and professionalism.
• Technical specialism in terrestrial ecology or broad adaptable experience.

Responsibilities

• Deliver major infrastructure projects across water, transport and energy sectors.
• Apply expertise in EIA, HRA and/or Biodiversity Net Gain.
• Collaborate across disciplines to integrate ecological requirements into design and delivery.
• Lead ecological monitoring programmes and ensure high-quality data collection.
• Provide expert advice and act as main client/stakeholder contact on large projects.
• Build cross-functional networks across geographies and cultures.
• Mentor and share knowledge through global communities and events.
• Support career progression through flexible routes including management.
