Job summary

VolkerFitzpatrick, part of VolkerWessels UK, seeks a Principal Ecologist to lead ecological strategy and compliance across major construction and civil engineering projects. You will drive biodiversity enhancement, manage ecological risk, and ensure adherence to wildlife legislation and licensing requirements.

The role requires extensive experience in protected species licensing, ES/HRA biodiversity chapters, and mitigation design. A degree in Ecology or Environmental Science is essential.

Qualifications

Full Membership of CIEEM (essential).
CSCS card (or ability to obtain).
Strong understanding of UK wildlife legislation, protected species licensing and planning requirements.
Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or related field.

Responsibilities

Lead ecological strategy, risk management and compliance across VolkerFitzpatrick’s construction and civil engineering projects.
Ensure projects meet legislative, client and environmental obligations.
Drive biodiversity enhancement across the business.
