Job summary

Leonardo UK is seeking a Principal Manufacturing Engineer – Digital to join on a hybrid basis. You will shape the Future Manufacturing strategy for Assy, Automation & Tooling and MES, ensuring timely project delivery and adherence to quality standards.

The role supports the Future Combat Air Line of Business and collaborates with UK and international partners to enable schedule, cost and quality targets in manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Minimum HND in relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
• Experience with manufacturing data systems and understanding of manufacturing software principles.
• Experience in supporting NPI Manufacturing Engineering Systems activities.
• Manufacturing systems & process knowledge including PLM, ERP, MES and QMS/BMS.
• Experience in early phases of product/process development life cycle.

Responsibilities

• Interface with IT, Cyber and Future Factory Digital Lifecycle teams to support ongoing integration activities.
• Engage with national and international partners on smart tooling, automation and MES/CDE integration.
• Support development of Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Repair elements of the digital thread.
• Develop and validate digital twins (plant/process) and simulations with Future Factory.
• Assist MES solution architects in aligning MES options and capabilities.
• Lead MES integration for the Smart Workbench as a Future Proof of Concept.
• Provide data-driven inputs to Operations decisions and track external tech developments.
• Ensure manufacturing processes are designed, tested, and compliant with quality standards.
