Job summary

Genomics England is seeking a Principal Data Engineer to shape data engineering across the organisation. You will lead, mentor and influence architectural decisions for secure, scalable data platforms handling sensitive clinical and genomic data.

Based in London with hybrid options, the role focuses on guiding teams, setting DataOps/DevOps practices and delivering enterprise-scale data solutions across cloud environments.

Qualifications

• Extensive data engineering experience across large-scale platforms.
• Master’s degree in data or infrastructure or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of cloud, data modeling and governance.
• Experience communicating with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide technical leadership across data engineering capabilities.
• Set standards for secure, scalable data platforms and pipelines.
• Lead design and delivery of complex data solutions across cloud and hybrid environments.
