Job summary

Our Future Health UK is seeking a Data Engineer with a strong background in bioinformatics and genetics to help build the data pipelines supporting our Clinical Research Recruitment Service.

This role combines genetics, bioinformatics and modern data engineering at scale, contributing to research that could improve disease prevention, detection and treatment. You will work in a multidisciplinary team and help turn scientific workflows into robust, reusable production pipelines.

Qualifications

• Experience building and maintaining robust, scalable data pipelines.
• Detailed knowledge of genomic data (genotyping/imputation advantageous).
• Proficiency in Python and data wrangling with large-scale health/genetic data.
• Familiarity with bioinformatics file standards (VCF, BGEN) and tools (PLINK, bcftools).
• Experience with workflow management tools (Nextflow, Airflow, etc).
• Understanding of cloud environments and distributed computing.

Responsibilities

• Support the build of reusable data pipelines to identify prospective clinical trial participants.
• Transform data with code to produce well-curated, accessible data for analysis.
• Develop prototypes for pipelines for complex transformations.
• Stay current with best practices in data engineering across industry, research and government.
