Job summary

Genomics England in Cambridge is seeking a Bioinformatics Engineer to join the Interpretation Platform squad. Based in our Platform DSS team, you will build and maintain code for high-throughput sequencing data analysis, genome interpretation and decision-support front ends built on AWS, Python and containerised services.

You will work in an agile squad, contribute to testing, documentation and deployment, and help ensure data quality and traceability across clinical and research use cases,

Qualifications

• Familiarity with NGS annotation tools and databases.
• Proficient in Linux, Git, PostgreSQL.
• Experience developing production-quality algorithms and software to analyse large datasets.
• Experience working in Agile environments and in Agile squads.
• Experience with AWS serverless technologies including Lambda, Step Functions and S3.
• Experience working with containerised applications (Docker).

Responsibilities

• Produce high-quality code for high throughput sequencing data analysis, genome analysis and interpretation.
• Contribute to all testing and deployment stages up to production environment.
• Contribute to discovery tasks during the initial phase of new developments and inform final software design.
• Write documentation to enable full traceability of processes.
• Be a proactive member of a squad, adopting agile practices and offering subject matter expertise.
• Ensure adherence to standards and accreditations for clinical laboratory practice and software delivery.
