Job summary

AECOM is seeking a Principal Civil Engineer to support the energy team across renewables, transmission and distribution projects in the UK and Ireland. You will be deployed to a portfolio including onshore wind, solar PV, hydroelectric, grid infrastructure and BESS, taking projects from feasibility through to detailed design and construction oversight.

We value engineering excellence, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering high-quality reports while working within a flexible hybrid model.

Qualifications

Must have BEng (Hons) in Civil Engineering.
Chartered status or working towards chartership preferred.
Proven experience delivering complex multi-disciplinary energy projects.
Experience on UK Transmission & Distribution projects (11kV–400kV).
Strong technical design ability for civil/structural elements.
Excellent report writing and organisational skills.

Responsibilities

Act as lead verifier on reports including technical feasibility studies and design reports.
Liaise with clients, manage project work day-to-day within timescales and budgets.
Coordinate multi-disciplinary design teams.
Lead and manage civil infrastructure design including roads and drainage.
Prepare and review calculations, drawings and specifications to UK standards.
Conduct site inspections and respond to technical queries.
Produce high-quality reports (feasibility, inspection, design).
Mentor and guide junior staff.
