Job summary

American Society of Civil Engineers seeks a Principal Civil Engineer for the Longbridge, Birmingham office. The role carries a salary of £50,000–£60,000 per annum (DOE) and a chance to lead a growing Civil Engineering team within a well-established consultancy.

You will oversee infrastructure projects from concept through to completion, mentor engineers, and build strong client relationships while guiding the Midland office's expansion in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in civil infrastructure design, particularly within residential development.
• Proven experience leading projects and managing client relationships.
• Strong knowledge of highways and drainage design, including relevant Section Agreements.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, Civil 3D, WinDes (or equivalent design software).
• Chartered status (or working towards Chartership) would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the design and delivery of infrastructure projects across residential and commercial developments.
• Mentor and support engineers and technicians, encouraging technical development and best practice.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships, acting as a trusted technical advisor.
• Prepare, review and approve technical designs, reports, drawings and calculations.
• Ensure projects comply with Section 278, Section 38, Section 104 and Section 185 agreements.
• Manage project programmes, budgets and resources to ensure successful delivery.
• Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities and supporting the growth of the Birmingham office.
• Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and strengthen the Civil Engineering team.
