Job summary

AECOM is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to provide technical leadership across a portfolio of development projects in the UK and overseas, including data centre work.

You will lead multidisciplinary teams, govern design quality, mentor engineers, and support business development while delivering compliant, resilient civil infrastructure.

This role combines strategic oversight with hands-on delivery in a hybrid working environment that values collaboration and innovation.

Qualifications

• Degree qualified in Civil Engineering or related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng MICE or equivalent) or operating at chartered level with leadership and authority.
• Significant experience in development-led infrastructure engineering, preferably in data centre sector.
• Experience delivering complex civil infrastructure projects including road geometry, drainage, earthworks, pavements and underground services.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic civil engineering leadership and governance for development projects, ensuring compliance with standards and regulatory requirements.
• Lead, review and approve civil engineering infrastructure designs and specifications for site development and associated infrastructure.
• Coordinate with multidisciplinary teams across the UK and globally to support project delivery.
• Support client engagement, business development and sector thought leadership, mentoring engineers.
• Undertake project management responsibilities across a portfolio of schemes.
