Job summary

Matchtech is seeking an experienced Principal Civil Engineer to join its Birmingham team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on delivering a diverse portfolio of public sector highways and infrastructure projects, collaborating with local authorities and other public sector clients.

You will lead design and delivery, manage programmes and budgets, and mentor engineers while ensuring compliance with standards. The position supports bids and framework commissions within a hybrid working setup.

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline.
• Experience delivering highways and infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment.
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards chartership, would be advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:

• Lead the design and delivery of highways and infrastructure projects
• Manage project programmes, budgets and technical outputs
• Liaise directly with clients, stakeholders and local authorities

• Ensure projects are delivered in accordance with relevant standards and industry guidance

Job Requirements:

• Degree qualification in Civil Engineering or a similar discipline
• Experience delivering highways and infrastructure projects within a consultancy environment
• Strong understanding of highways design standards, including DMRB, Manual for Streets and local authority requirements
• Experience managing project teams and client relationshipsProficiency with industry-standard civil engineering design software
• Chartered Engineer status, or progress towards professional chartership, would be advantageous
• Strong communication, technical leadership and project management skills
