Job summary

J.P. Morgan is recruiting a Principal Software Engineer - Applied AI ML Director to lead scalable GenAI initiatives within the Accelerator Business in the UK. You will drive platform design, deploy AI services in the cloud, and mentor squads focused on productized AI solutions for customers worldwide.

The role emphasizes collaboration, compliance, and delivering practical fintech AI, with opportunities to move across product squads based on strengths and interests.

Qualifications

• Proficiency in Java and/or Python.
• Experience deploying GenAI platforms (VertexAI, OpenAI, AWS Bedrock, LangChain).
• Experience with cloud tech (AWS/Azure/GCP), distributed systems, CI/CD, IaC and containers.
• Track record deploying and managing LL M-based apps and agents.
• Exposure to vector stores (Pinecone, GCP RAG, S3 Vector Buckets).
• Experience with cloud-native microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Model Context Protocol (MCP).
• Strong communication for technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Design scalable, self-service solutions for GenAI deployment, including RAG pipelines and agents with memory and workflow orchestration.
• Implement model versioning, experiment tracking, and lifecycle management tools.
• Develop systems to monitor model performance and address data/model drift.
• Advise on best practices for model integration and deployment patterns.
• Create testing strategies (unit to end-to-end) and guardrails to reduce hallucinations.
• Ensure platform compliance with data privacy, security and regulatory standards.
• Mentor team members on platform design principles and practices.
• Guide coding practices and architecture for maintainable AI services.
• Deploy scalable AI services to cloud with monitoring and observability.
• Design microservices architectures and orchestrate multistep workflows with tracing.
