Job summary

Mayflower Community Academy, part of the Learning Academies Trust, is seeking a caring and dedicated Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant and ambitious school community in Plymouth. You will work alongside experienced teachers to support pupils academically and pastorally, focusing on inclusion, SEND/EAL needs, and positive behaviour.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification (or equivalent) and GCSE Maths and English at Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent).
• Experience working within a primary school environment.
• Experience supporting children with additional needs (SEND/EAL).
• Demonstrates strong communication skills, emotional intelligence and safeguarding commitment.
• Works effectively as part of a team and takes initiative to support pupils and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Support high-quality teaching and learning across the classroom.
• Deliver planned learning activities and adapt support to meet individual needs.
• Promote positive behaviour and inclusion.
• Support pupils with additional needs (SEND/EAL, disadvantaged learners).
• Monitor and record pupil progress.
• Provide pastoral support and build relationships with pupils and families.
• Assist with classroom organisation, resources and administrative tasks.
