Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a Primary Teaching Assistant to join our team in Greater London, supporting pupils in a classroom setting. The role involves helping with literacy, numeracy, and group activities, and requires a DBS check and safeguarding awareness.

Ideal candidates may have prior experience with children, but those new to the field are welcome. You will work closely with teachers and school staff to promote positive behaviour and pupil wellbeing.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience of working with children is desirable but not necessary.
• A Clear Enhanced DBS check.
• GCSEs in Maths and English at A*-C or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with classroom learning and behaviour management.
• Provide 1-to-1 and small-group support, including for SEND pupils.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy, reading and classroom activities.
• Prepare learning resources and help maintain an organised classroom.
• Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and school activities.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and pupil wellbeing.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff.
