Job summary

GSL Education in Lewisham, London is seeking a friendly Teaching Assistant to support teachers with classroom learning and behaviour management.

You will provide 1-to-1 and small-group support, assist with literacy and numeracy, prepare learning resources, supervise pupils, and help maintain an organised learning environment. A DBS check and safeguarding knowledge are essential, with GCSEs in Maths and English.

Qualifications

• Relevant experience of working with children is desirable but not necessary.
• A Clear Enhanced DBS check is required.
• GCSEs in Maths and English (A*-C) are required.
• Strong knowledge of safeguarding and child protection is essential.

Responsibilities

• Support teachers with classroom learning and behaviour management.
• Provide 1-to-1 and small-group support, including for SEND pupils.
• Assist with literacy, numeracy, reading and classroom activities.
• Prepare learning resources and help maintain an organised classroom.
• Supervise pupils during lessons, break times, lunch and school activities.
• Promote positive behaviour, engagement and pupil wellbeing.
• Follow safeguarding, health and safety and school policies.
• Work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff.
