Job summary

GSL Education is seeking a passionate Teaching Assistant (Primary) for a welcoming Chesterfield primary school. You will support learning across early years and key stages, one-to-one or small groups, and help pupils stay engaged with age-appropriate activities.

You will work alongside class teachers to promote a calm, inclusive classroom, supporting academic, social and emotional development while ensuring safeguarding requirements are met. Immediate start.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school or similar setting is desirable.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
• Confidence supporting children across EYFS, KS1 or KS2.
• Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.
• A genuine commitment to helping children develop and succeed.

Responsibilities

• Support the class teacher with daily classroom activities and learning.
• Provide one-to-one and small-group support where appropriate.
• Assist pupils with early learning, literacy, numeracy and other curriculum activities.
• Encourage positive behaviour and age-appropriate independence.
• Support pupils with their social and emotional development.
• Help maintain a calm, safe and engaging classroom environment.
• Share relevant observations and feedback with the class teacher.
