Job summary

Education First Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming Greenwich primary school on a long-term basis.

The role supports pupils across EYFS to KS2, delivers 1:1 and small-group support, and helps teachers with engaging lessons and learning activities.

Ideal candidates have experience with SEN, strong communication, and a patient, enthusiastic approach, with a commitment to helping children progress.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with children in a primary school, SEN, nursery or similar educational setting.
• Experience supporting pupils with additional learning needs and challenging behaviour.
• A patient, caring and enthusiastic approach to working with children.
• Strong communication and behaviour management skills.
• The ability to work effectively alongside teachers and school staff.
• A genuine passion for helping children overcome barriers to learning.
• Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support is desirable.
• Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN or childcare are desirable but not essential.
• The ability to adapt to different classroom environments and respond to pupils' individual needs.

Responsibilities

• Supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 within the classroom and wider school environment.
• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.
• Assisting teachers with the delivery of engaging lessons and learning activities.
• Supporting pupils with their literacy, numeracy and wider curriculum development.
• Building positive and trusting relationships with pupils to encourage confidence and participation.
• Supporting pupils with ASD, ADHD, SEMH and challenging behaviour where required.
• Helping pupils develop their social skills, independence and emotional well-being.
• Supporting classroom behaviour management and maintaining a positive learning environment.
• Working alongside teachers to adapt learning activities to meet individual pupil needs.
• Providing support both inside and outside the classroom as required.
• Encouraging pupils to develop positive learning habits and achieve their potential.
