Job summary

TeacherActive is seeking a dedicated Primary Teaching Assistant for a mainstream primary school in Lichfield. Start ASAP, full-time during term time, Monday to Friday 8.30am-3.30pm.

You will support pupils with their learning, build rapport, and assist 1:1 sessions outside the classroom as needed. We’re looking for someone calm under pressure, patient, and committed to helping children improve academically and emotionally.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting primary pupils with additional learning needs.
• Able to support 1:1 and small groups.
• Calm, patient, nurturing when helping children regulate emotions.
• Comfortable with managing challenging behaviours.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils within the classroom to aid learning and engagement.
• Provide 1:1 or small-group assistance outside the classroom when required.
• Build rapport with students to create a safe learning environment.
• Assist with behaviour management and emotional regulation during the day.

Are you confident supporting children within a primary school setting who need additional support with their learning?

We are supporting a welcoming mainstream primary school, that are looking to appoint a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join their team on a full-time basis during term time with immediate start.

In this role you will need to build rapport with students in the school who need additional support, both within the classroom, and also supporting some of them 1:1 in some quiet time outside the classroom, if they need time out to work in a more focused area.

This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is calm under pressure, resilient, and passionate about making a positive impact on the lives of children who may require additional behavioural and emotional support throughout the school day.

What We're Looking For

• Confidence in managing and responding to challenging behaviours in a positive and professional manner
• The ability to support children who may arrive at school upset, anxious, or dis regulated
• A calm, patient, and nurturing approach when helping children regulate their emotions
• The ability to think quickly on your feet and adapt to changing situations throughout the school day
• Strong relationship-building skills to help pupils feel safe, supported, and ready to learn
• Experience working with children with SEMH, SEND, or behavioural needs is desirable
