The Primary Teacher Role

Are you a compassionate and dedicated Primary Teacher looking to make a real difference? We are seeking a Special Educational Needs Primary Teacher for a vibrant primary school in Portsmouth, supporting pupils with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Severe Learning Difficulties (SLD) in KS2.

In this role, you will create a nurturing, inclusive classroom environment tailored to each student's needs. Your expertise will help develop individualized learning plans that promote engagement, independence, and social skills.

The School

The successful candidate will join an outstanding SEN school in Portsmouth for children with severe learning difficulties, providing a range of indoor and outdoor environments to maximize learning and independence.

Key Responsibilities

1. Develop and implement personalized educational programs based on an adapted EYFS curriculum.
2. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including therapists and educational psychologists.
3. Foster a positive classroom atmosphere.
4. Monitor and assess student progress, adapting approaches as needed.
5. Engage with parents and caregivers to support development at home and school.
6. Lead a support team within the classroom.

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
• Strong knowledge of ASD and SLD.
