Job summary

St Bernadette’s Catholic Primary School in Nunthorpe is seeking a dedicated caretaker to join the Estates and Facilities Team on a permanent, term-time plus 3 weeks split shift (open 7-10 am, 2:45-5:45 pm).

The role covers site maintenance, compliance checks, painting/decorating, minor refurbishments, porterage, and safeguarding duties. Closing date: 9 Oct 2026.

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will be responsible for site-based duties and compliance activities.
• General maintenance, painting and decorating, minor refurbishment works.
• Porterage, key holding and safeguarding responsibilities.

Responsibilities

• Complete all site-based duties including weekly compliance activities.
• Perform general maintenance and minor refurbishment works.
• Carry out painting and decorating tasks and porterage as required.
• Assist with safeguarding and secure site access as needed.

Salary: £25,989 - £26,403 pro-rata (actual salary £19,140 - £19,445)

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 30 hours, Term Time only plus 3 weeks split shift (open 7-10 am, 2.45-5.45pm close)

This is an excellent opportunity for a suitably experienced caretaking professional who will join a team delivering effective estates and facilities management services across our schools.
