Job summary

Prospero Teaching is recruiting for a Primary SEND Teacher in Rochdale to lead a mixed KS1-KS2 class with complex needs. You will deliver personalised teaching, differentiate lessons and support pupils' holistic development.

Experience in SEN and a calm, empathetic approach are essential. QTS or equivalent is required, and eligibility to work in the UK must be met. The role runs full-time, permanent with a Monday to Friday schedule.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high-quality, personalised teaching for pupils across KS2 with a focus on complex needs.
• Plan, adapt and differentiate engaging lessons to meet EHCP outcomes and milestones.
• Support pupils’ holistic development—academic, social, emotional and communication skills.
• Collaborate with SENCO, staff, therapists and families to provide a consistent approach.
• Monitor pupil progress, contribute to reports and participate in MDT meetings.

Job Title: SEND Teacher
Area: Rochdale, Greater Manchester
Start Date: Monday 2 nd November 2026
Contract Type: Full-time, Permanent
Pay Rate: 1,000-£1,450 per week (dependent on experience and responsibilities)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 4:00pm

About the School:

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced SEND Teacher to lead a well-established mixed KS1-KS2 class where all pupils are working below the national curriculum. The class supports learners with a range of complex needs, including severe learning difficulties, autism, and social, emotional and mental health needs. Some pupils also have visual impairments, although these are not their primary area of need. Many learners are at an early stage of communication development and use a variety of approaches, including Signalong, PODD, PECS, and other alternative and augmentative communication methods.

About the Role:

• Deliver high-quality, personalised teaching for pupils across KS2, with a focus on complex needs
• Plan, adapt, and differentiate engaging lessons to meet EHCP outcomes, developmental milestones, and sensory requirements
• Support pupils’ holistic development—academic, social, emotional, and communication skills
• Collaborate closely with the SENCO, learning support staff, therapists, and families to provide a consistent and effective approach
• Monitor pupil progress, contribute to reports, and participate in multidisciplinary team meetings

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Experience teaching in an SEN setting (or strong SEN knowledge within a mainstream environment)

• Hold an enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service OR be willing to process a new application
