Job summary

Vision for Education are seeking a Primary SEND Teacher to join our partner in Darlington, with a September 2026 start. The role involves teaching small classes of pupils aged 4–11 with a range of needs.

You will hold QTS, support learners with EHCPs, and promote learning through cross-curricular activities. Salary: £150–£190 per day, paid PAYE, with potential for permanent appointment.

Qualifications

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
  • Experience with pupils with SEND including MLD/SLD/ASD and other complex needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.

Responsibilities

The School and Role

Are you a Primary SEND Teacher with either the experience or desire to work with pupils with moderate, severe, and complex needs? A fantastic teaching role is available which could possibly develop into a permanent contract.

  • The Primary SEND Teacher role will involve teaching small classes of pupils aged 4-11 with a wide range of Learning Difficulties.
  • Every student at the school has an Education, Healthcare Plan (EHCP) and additional needs around their health, social and emotional wellbeing.
  • The ideal teacher will develop a stimulating and challenging environment within the teaching area.
  • The school are looking for individuals who can promote pupils’ interest and learning using a cross curricular approach.
Requirements
  • Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience working with children with a variety of SEND including but not limited to, MLD/SLD/PMLD/ASD/SEMH/SEBD/PD/VI/HI and other complex needs.
  • Be dedicated and supportive, an excellent communicator and passionate about working with students with SEND.
  • Many of the pupils have limited verbal communication skills, so experience with Makaton, British Sign Language, and/or PECS would be an advantage.
