Job summary

Step Teachers is seeking a SEND-focused SEND Teacher for a thriving primary school in Hemel Hempstead, starting September 2026. This part-time, long-term temporary post supports pupils aged 3–11 in a calm, inclusive environment after an Ofsted-judged Good rating.

SEND Teacher – Primary School, long-term temporary and ongoing, part-time, starting September 2026

Hereis a thriving primary school catering for pupils aged 3–11 and serving a diverse local community. The school was judged Good by Ofsted, with inspectors praising the Quality of Education, Behaviour and Attitudes, Personal Development, Leadership and Management, and Early Years Provision.

Responsibilities
  • Planning and delivering engaging lessons tailored to individual learning needs
  • Supporting pupils with SEND to access the curriculum and achieve their targets
  • Creating an inclusive and structured learning environment
  • Working closely with teaching assistants, the SENDCo, and external professionals
  • Monitoring pupil progress and contributing to EHCP reviews where appropriate
  • Promoting pupils' confidence, independence, and wellbeing
Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Experience teaching pupils with SEND
  • Strong understanding of differentiated teaching strategies
  • Knowledge of EHCPs and SEND best practice
  • Excellent behaviour management and communication skills
  • Passion for inclusive education and pupil development
  • Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
