Job summary

GSL Education is recruiting a Primary SEND Learning Mentor for an inclusive school in Ashford, Kent. You will provide tailored academic and emotional support to primary pupils with SEND, helping them build literacy, numeracy and social skills under the guidance of the teaching team.

The role suits graduates or experienced learning mentors who are committed to SEND inclusion, with opportunities for CPD and ongoing support. This is a long-term, full-time position starting ASAP in Ashford.

Qualifications

• Experience working with primary-aged children in education or mentoring roles.
• Understanding of SEND and barriers to learning.
• Patience, empathy and positive approach.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group support to primary pupils with SEND.
• Help pupils develop literacy, numeracy, communication and social skills.
• Adapt activities to individual needs and learning styles.
• Encourage positive learning behaviours, confidence, resilience and independence.
• Build trusting relationships to create a safe, motivated learning environment.
• Collaborate with teachers and other staff to support pupil progress.
• Monitor engagement and progress and share observations with the team.
• Promote an inclusive and encouraging classroom atmosphere.
