Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment is actively recruiting a compassionate and dedicated Primary SEN Teaching Assistant for an immediate start. This urgent vacancy is based within a wonderful, nurturing specialist primary setting supporting children with a wide range of special educational needs.

Qualifications

  • Previous professional background or strong volunteering experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), Early Years, or primary education.
  • High patience, empathy, emotional resilience, adaptability, and a genuine passion for working with young learners.
  • Must hold a current Enhanced DBS certificate registered on the Update Service (or be in a position to process one immediately) and be available to start straight away.

Responsibilities

  • Assist young children aged 2-11 with diverse SEN across daily classroom activities, play, and structured learning.
  • Help deliver a tailored, adaptive curriculum, setting up engaging sensory and developmental spaces to encourage pupil participation.
  • Support alternative communication methods, emotional regulation, and positive social interaction strategies.
  • Support pupils with pastoral care, personal development, and daily routines with warmth, patience, and dignity.
  • Work closely with primary class teachers, SENCOs, and specialist therapists to track progress and EHCP targets.

Key Roles & Responsibilities
  • Primary Pupil Support: Assist young children aged 2-11 with diverse special educational needs (SEN) across daily classroom activities, play, and structured learning.

Person Specification & Requirements
