Job summary

Prospero Teaching are seeking a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant to join a warm SEND school in Bury, Manchester. You will support pupils with SEND across KS1- KS2, including ASD and profound learning needs, helping them access lessons and develop independence.

You will work closely with the class teacher to deliver tailored interventions, support behaviour, track progress and communicate with the wider support team.

Qualifications

  • Experience supporting children with SEND in a school or care setting.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to engage effectively with children.
  • A calm, compassionate and proactive approach.
  • Strong understanding of Autism and SEND.
  • A relevant TA qualification.

About the school

A warm and inclusive SEND primary school in Bury seeks a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with a wide range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), profound and multiple learning difficulties, and significant communication challenges.

About the role

As a Primary SEN Teaching Assistant you will work closely with children across Key Stage 1 (ages 5‑7) and Key Stage 2 (ages 7‑11). Your responsibilities include:

  • Providing one‑to‑one and small group support to pupils with EHCPs and additional needs
  • Assisting the class teacher with lesson delivery, behaviour support and tailored interventions
  • Promoting emotional regulation, independence and positive routines throughout the school day
  • Contributing to progress tracking and communicating regularly with the wider support team
