Job summary

Academics is seeking a Mental Health Teaching Assistant in Trowbridge to support pupils aged 5-16 with Autism, SEMH and additional needs within a specialist school setting. The role involves one-to-one and small-group work, delivering strategies to regulate emotions and develop confidence, alongside experienced teachers, therapists, and SEN staff.

The position is full‑time, Monday to Friday, with a salary of £85-£110 per day.

Qualifications

• Graduate or individuals considering careers in psychology, counselling, or education.
• Experience in supporting children with SEMH or learning needs is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Provide tailored support to pupils with SEMH, anxiety, and learning needs.
• Work one-to-one and in small groups to develop communication, resilience and social skills.
• Implement strategies to support positive behaviour and engagement in learning.
• Contribute to creating a safe, nurturing classroom environment where children can thrive.
