Job summary

South Lanarkshire Council is seeking a Primary Janitor for its Facilities team at Woodhead Primary School in Hamilton. The role covers janitorial and cleaning duties, with a focused emphasis on maintaining hygiene, safety and cleanliness to meet requested standards.

The position operates term-time with specific shift patterns and an hourly rate of £14.51–£14.83. PVG scheme, DBS or equivalent checks may apply, and benefits include access to local government pension and other core terms.

Qualifications

• Experience in janitorial and cleaning duties within a school or similar setting.
• Knowledge of COSHH regulations and safe cleaning practices.
• Good communication with Facilities Manager and colleagues to meet daily needs.

Responsibilities

• Carry out cleaning and janitorial duties across floors, furniture, fixtures and sanitary areas.
• Monitor standards of cleaning, reporting issues to management.
• Log and report damages or faults to the fabric and fixtures.
• Liaise with external contractors and lessees on health, safety and security procedures.
• Ensure grounds are kept safe, tidy and free from hazards for staff and visitors.
