Job summary

New Directions Education is seeking Learning Support Assistants to work in primary schools across Carmarthenshire. You will support groups of pupils across Key Stages in the classroom with day-to-day activities, assisting the class teacher. We have full-time and part-time roles, with working hours 8:30am–3:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Pay rate is £95 per day. Roles involve support for ALN students and a range of needs, including ASD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and other learning difficulties.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 Teaching Assistant
• NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant
• HLTA qualification is desirable
• CACHE Level 3 in Childcare & Education
• BTEC National Certificate in Childhood Studies (Nursery Nursing)

Responsibilities

• Assist in the educational and social development of pupils under the direction and guidance of the head teacher, ALNCO and class teachers
• Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Programmes (IEP) for students and help monitor their progress
• Provide support for individual students inside and outside the classroom to enable them to fully participate in activities
• Assist class teachers with maintaining student records
• Support students with emotional or behavioural problems and help develop their social skills.
