Job summary

Tradewind Recruitment are seeking a motivated and dedicated L2 Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive primary school in St. Helens from September 2026.

This is a full-time role supporting pupils across the primary age range, working closely with the class teacher to help deliver engaging lessons and provide targeted support to individuals and small groups. The position is initially until Christmas, with potential to extend for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• Have recent experience working with children in a UK primary school or similar educational setting.
• Be confident supporting pupils across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, both in the classroom and through small group interventions.
• Have experience supporting children with a range of learning needs, including SEND, where required.
• Be patient, enthusiastic, and committed to helping children develop both academically and socially.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills, working effectively alongside teachers, parents, and other professionals.
• Hold, or be willing to obtain, an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service.

Responsibilities

• Support pupils across the primary age range under the direction of the class teacher.
• Assist in delivering engaging lessons and targeted small-group interventions.
• Support children with a range of learning needs, including SEND, as required.
• Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment to promote learning.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents and other professionals to support pupil progress.
• Maintain DBS status and ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures.
