Your New Role as a Primary HLTA

As a skilled and adaptable Primary HLTA, your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting teaching and learning across various year groups within a primary school setting.
  • Leading whole classes during teachers' PPA time or short-term absences, delivering pre-planned lessons effectively.
  • Working with individuals or small groups of children, providing targeted support to raise attainment.
  • Assisting in the planning, preparation, and delivery of learning activities and resources.
  • Contributing to the assessment of pupils' progress and maintaining accurate records.
  • Fostering a positive and engaging learning environment and managing classroom behaviour effectively.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other staff members to support the overall educational aims of the school.
  • Upholding school policies and procedures, particularly those relating to safeguarding and child protection.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate will:

  • Hold HLTA status or an equivalent qualification (e.g., Foundation Degree in Supporting Learning).
  • Have significant experience working in a primary school setting, ideally across different key stages.
  • Demonstrate confidence and competence in leading whole classes and managing classroom dynamics.
  • Possess strong curriculum knowledge relevant to primary education.
  • Have excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Be passionate about supporting children's learning and development.
  • Be proactive, flexible, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Have a sound understanding of safeguarding procedures.
