Job summary

The Trust in Barnsley is recruiting a dedicated Higher Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) for a temporary, full-time role at a local primary school. You will support teaching and learning across year groups, deliver targeted interventions, and cover lessons when needed.

Qualifications

• Hold a minimum HLTA status or have relevant experience within a similar role (ECTs ideal).
• Have experience working within primary.
• Be confident delivering intervention programmes and small group support.
• Demonstrate strong classroom management and communication skills.
• Be reliable, organised, and able to work effectively as part of a team.
• Have a proactive and positive approach to supporting teaching and learning.
• Be flexible and confident providing class cover when required.

Responsibilities

• Supporting teaching and learning across primary.
• Planning, preparing, and delivering targeted intervention work to support pupil progress.
• Providing occasional class cover where required.
• Working closely with teaching staff to deliver engaging and effective support sessions.
• Creating a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
• Supporting pupils of all abilities and learning needs to achieve their potential.
• Working collaboratively with staff, pupils, and parents to support positive outcomes.
