Job summary

Flansham Park Health Centre in the United Kingdom is seeking a Pharmacy Technician to cover a six-month maternity leave on a fixed-term contract. You will ensure safe supply of medicines, support clinicians and participate in medicines optimisation within a training practice.

You will register with the GPhC and work under the Senior Partner’s supervision, assisting with care home reviews, antimicrobial stewardship and audits. Flexibility and patient safety are key.

Qualifications

• Meets GPhC qualification and training criteria to register as a Pharmacy Technician
• Enrolled in, undertaking or qualified from an approved training pathway such as PCPEP or MOCH

Responsibilities

• Ensure safe, accurate and timely supply of prescribed medication to patients under supervision
• Provide technical and administrative support to clinicians
• Handle medication queries from patients and prescription requests directly
• Complete patient-safety audits on prescribing and present findings to the clinical team
• Support medication reviews and medicines reconciliation for new care home patients
• Support antimicrobial stewardship to reduce inappropriate antibiotic prescribing
• Support reception teams in sorting and streaming prescription requests for GP and clinical pharmacist review
• Support medicines optimisation, including efficient ordering, returns, reduced wastage and safe repeat prescribing
• Support public health and screening programmes, including immunisations, vaccinations and flu clinics
• Provide training and support on the safe handling of medicines, including the Electronic Prescription Service
• Take part in clinical audits, quality improvement, QOF and enhanced services
• Support the management of patient complaints and learning from incidents and near misses
